Lipsticks for Indian Skin Tones – Nudes/Everyday Colours | Kajal

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all having a lovely summer. I thought it would be good to go through my lipstick collection with you, and to break it down into colours. 🙂

Everyday lip products

Nudes / everyday colours! I have pigmented lips and they are two different, distinct shades (especially dark around the Cupid’s bow) so I tried to find shades that wouldn’t wash me out/ would be pigmented enough to show up and to even up my lip colour!

Although I have recommended this list to those with Indian skin tones, all of these colours would suit most skin tones 🙂 I have made a list of my top picks below; I love all of these shades and reach for them daily:

Here are some swatches!:

(I tanned a lot in a week!) From left to right: Cosmo, Bois de Rose, Pink Truffle, Eastend Snob, Lovesick

 1.   The high-end favourite – Mac’s Cosmo

mac cosmo

This lipstick has an amplified finish and is really pigmented; it evens up my lips really well. It is probably the pinkest of all the lipsticks swatched here. It has a nice vanilla smell, is moisturising and easy to apply but it can wash me out when I’m tanned like now – hence the tan line from my watch! – so I tend to wear it during the winter months.

Price: £15.50

 2.   The underrated one – L’Oréal Color Riche Lipstick in Bois De Rose (No. 302)

L'oreal Bois De Rose

I found this one by chance! This is quite similar to Cosmo but is a bit more purply/darker. The finish is also different, as this is more similar to Mac’s Satin finish.

I tend to use this one when I am a bit more tanned. It is such a beautiful colour (an MUA at Bobbi Brown complimented me when I wore it so it has a special place in my heart.) It glides on like a dream and has a decent lasting power; I wish I had found it earlier. It does have a smidgen of an artificial smell – a bit like soap – but this is only noticeable when you’re putting it on and it fades  when you wear it! So no worries.

Price: £8.19

3.   The easy one – Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle

This is my version of something like Mac’s Mocha. (Mocha washes me out like crazy) I call this the easy one because it’s just a really easy colour to pull off. It is more on the brown side, and is sheer but you can build it up (as you can see from the swatch.) It makes my lips look much, much fuller, and is really moisturising. The only issue is it doesn’t have the best lasting power as it is more like a balm (even though it is pretty pigmented) but it is still a dream to apply.

Price: £7.99

 4.   The lipliner – Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in Eastend Snob (No. 63)

Rimmel lipliner

This lipliner swatched a lot pinker than I realised! It’s good for evening up the pigmentation on my lips, and is easy to use because it is an automatic liner. The only issue is that it is so soft and a bit chalky so it breaks up quite easily and I have lost a fair bit of the product because of this. It also has a noticeable scent. Nonetheless, it is a great liner to pair up with Bois de Rose and Cosmo.

Price: £3.99

 5.  The lipgloss – Rimmel London Vinyl Gloss in Lovesick (No. 550)

FullSizeRender (3)

I’m not a great fan of lipgloss, but this one isn’t too sticky and it complements Cosmo and Bois de Rose really well. I tend to use this on the centre of the lips. I can’t find it on the Superdrug or the Boots website so it may be that this shade has been discontinued. 😦 Let’s hope that it is not!

Price: £4.99
