Nars Sheer Glow vs MAC Pro Longwear | Una

Hey friends! Hope you are doing well. I’m back with another review, this time of MAC Pro Longwear foundation. I will be making a lot of comparisons with Nars Sheer Glow since that is a foundation I previously used and loved. So let’s get started and don’t forget to let me know which product I should use next. Also if you want to get some tips which foundation to choose don’t forget to check out Freddie’s post here!

Packaging: I do love a glass bottle, it just screams high end! One thing I used to hate about Nars Sheer Glow was the fact it did not have a pump. I know you can purchase on but I don’t see why I have to when I’m already forking out a fair amount for the product itself. I used to always pour out too much foundation but with MAC I have learnt I can use 2 medium sized pumps to get a medium to full coverage. The pump design even has a locking feature which is useful for travelling and ensuring nothing leaks out.

Colour: Whenever I am looking for a new foundation, I ensure I wear it for at least a day before purchasing. This is because the colour may change over the day or simply I might not like the feel of the foundation. Compared to Nars the MAC colouring is a little bit more yellow (I got matched in NC35) but I don’t see that to be a problem since I cover the foundation with contour, highlighter, blush etc… that it all evens out in the end.

Coverage: I was very impressed with the coverage of this foundation. Like Nars Sheer Glow it has a good combination of matte and dewy with a medium to full coverage. If my face was always flawless I would be happy to leave the house with just one application but the MAC product builds wells for a fuller coverage. I like to apply it using Real Technique’s Expert Face Brush.

Wear Test: This foundation is promoted to last 15 hours but I’m unsure who even wears foundation for that long! I wore the product on a night out and I would say it held pretty well in the hot atmosphere. I don’t tend to powder since I have quite dry skin and prefer the dewy look.

Price: The MAC Pro Longwear costs £25.50 compared to Nars Sheer Glow which is £31.00 for 30ml of product each. Nars lasted me just under a year with sporadic not regular use so for me the MAC foundation is definitely value for money since I believe you  get a very similar product. Plus with MAC you get the added bonus of spf 15!

I am so glad I have tried my very first MAC foundation with wonderful results. Please do let me know your opinions about other MAC foundations and how they would work for different skin tones. Til’ next time, bye! Una X
